The people responding to the offers typically work Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm. If you have made an offer over night or on a weekend you will have to wait until business hours for a response. You may also want to take the 3.5 hour time zone difference from coast to coast into consideration when waiting for a response too!
We also usually say to allow 24 hours within business hours for the company to decide whether an offer is within acceptable limits.
